  • Eric Bellworthy

    BSAC Advanced diver/Open Water Instructor.

I joined the Trust after attending a London Dive Chamber lecture held to benefit the charity. Many training sessions and 7 foreign holidays later I now have the honour of being Chairman for the last two years.

After 20 years of diving it is still a thrill to introduce new members, who never realised it would be possible and beneficial for them.

  • Frank Buchanan

    Deptherapy Instructor Trainer.
    DDI Instructor.
    SDI Instructor.
    TDI Instructor.

    BSAC Ocean Diver.
I joined the Scuba Trust December 1996, just shortly after the charity was set up, following a parachute accident which the doctors told me I would never walk again. They didn't say anything about diving and they were wrong about the walking as well!
I have been diving since 1997 a year after I joined the Scuba Trust. I qualified as an Instructor in 2001 and qualified as an IAHD Instructor, (International Association of Handicapped Divers) in 2004, In 2007 I qualified as a SDI and TDI Instructor, DDI (Disabled Divers International) Instructor in 2012. I qualified as a Deptherapy Instructor in 2014 and became a Deptherapy Education Instructor Trainer in in the same year. I have been a Trustee of the Scuba Trust for 7 years and enjoyed being part of a great team. My passion is diving and teaching, and have dived in many countries but with plenty more on my list to still visit.
  • Liam Coffey

    PADI Assistant Instructor.

After a holiday in Mexico where I did a Try-Dive myself and my wife were hooked.  We came back to the UK as qualified PADI Open Water Divers but felt we needed to learn more.

As I am sight impaired and my wife a wheelchair user we searched for an organisation for Disabled divers and found The Scuba Trust. It was December 2013 when I first joined the trust and I have progressed to a professional level becoming a PADI Assistant Instructor in 2017.  With The Scuba Trusts help I went from an Open Water Diver to Master Scuba Diver and then to the professional ranks as Divemaster then Assistant Instructor, each course progressing my diving and my confidence.  Currently I am working towards my PADI Open Water Instructor rating which is planned to take place in April 2018, fingers crossed!

What started out just to be somewhere we could pickup hints tips and tricks to adapt our gear so we could dive has ended up being somewhere we have made life long friends.
